*the recommended age for this event is 3rd grade and up. However, if you feel like your younger child is able to follow the museum policies below, you are welcome to sign them up.
Payment in full is required to register for this event and will be fully refunded to you if you cancel on or before October 18, 2024. If you fail to cancel your registration by October 18, 2024 and/or do not show up to the event, you will not be eligible for a refund. NO EXCEPTIONS
TOUR INFORMATION
A 1 hour docent-led tour of the Museum that includes 14 original guest and public rooms of the Tampa Bay Hotel. You will be transported back to the 1890s when the Tampa Bay Hotel was the pinnacle of high fashion and social center for local society and visitors from around the world.
You will learn about:
-Tampa’s early development during the late 19th century
-The Gilded Age lifestyle in late 19th century Florida
-Visionary Henry Plant and the impact of his
Plant System of railroads, steamships and hotels in the development of Florida
-The vital role of the Tampa Bay Hotel in the Spanish-American War
-The unique Moorish-Revival architectural style of the Hotel
Students should watch this 14 minute film prior to the field trip. It introduces viewers to Henry Plant and his vision for the development of Tampa the magnificent Tampa Bay Hotel.

MUSEUM POLICIES
The Museum is National Historic Landmark filled with authentic antique items. Please review museum etiquette with your students in advance. We enforce a “Touch With Eyes Only” policy. Backpacks and other large bags should be left in vehicles. Food, drinks, strollers, and flash photography are not allowed inside the museum.
PARKING
Parking is available immediately in front of the Museum. If all these spots are full, there is a free parking garage, the Thomas Parking Garage, that is about a 5 minute walk through the University of Tampa campus.
